We provide support for elite athletes, opportunities for young people, short-stay accommodation, fitness facilities and entertainment for families and the chance for the University to offer WA students some of the best sports, human movement and research facilities in Australia.
UWA Sports Park will become the place for applied research through sporting centres of excellence.
The synergies between health, sport and research are captured in the University’s Centre for Health and Sporting Excellence (CHASE) concept for UWA Sports Park. This concept combines research and sports facilities for University purposes, partnerships with sporting organisations as well as a number of other commercial and community opportunities.
UWA Sports park is located in Mount Claremont. The precinct is split among a number of owners, the largest of which is the University of Western Australia, which holds 56 hectares of endowment land. Part of this area is leased to the State Government through the Western Australian Sports Centre Trust (VenuesWest), which operates Challenge Stadium. The State government holds 29.7 hectares, including AK Reserve.
