UWA Sports Park

Centre for Health and Sports Excellence (CHASE)

UWA’s planned Centre for Health and Sporting Excellence will combine research and sports facilities.

These will be for University purposes, partnerships with sporting organisations as well as a number of other commercial and community opportunities.

The detailed concept plan based at UWA Sports Park was endorsed by the Implementation Committeee in March 2009.

The UWA School of Sport Science Exercise and Health promotes the understanding of the mechanisms and processes underlying skilled movements and how they are influenced by physiological, biomechanical, psychological and social factors.

The School runs a range of public programs in sport and health.

The vision for the Centre for Health and Sports Excellence, for the school includes the:

Preventative Health and Exercise Science Institute

Medicine Dentistry and Health Science

The UWA Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences is a research-intensive faculty that provides high-quality educational and research programs for the spectrum of medical, dental and health science disciplines.

The Faculty's research symposia highlights its achievements and informs the community of future directions. Research fellowships aim to develop a strong research base.

UWA Sport and Recreation

UWA Sports is the centre of sports activity for the University, its students, staff and surrounding community.

UWA sports runs a varied program which include a recreation and fitness centre, numerous sporting clubs, group fitness courses, recreation short courses and community sport.

UWA sports manages clubs and facilities at UWA Sports Park.

The vision for the Centre for Health and Sports Excellence, for UWA Sports involves managing clubs and events at UWA Sports Park. It includes:

  • Fitness centre – gymnasium and studios
  • Change facilities
  • Sports medicine facilities
  • Viewing deck

Western Australian Institute of Sport

The Western Australian Institute of Sport (WAIS) is a dedicated centre for elite Western Australian athletes.

WAIS has existing administration and sport science facility at Challenge Stadium in Mount Claremont.

WAIS is looking to expand and update these facilities.
